If You’ve been following the Indian electronic music closely, you would have noticed that a key moment in the last decade has been the rise of the bass music movement. Particularly in the last 5 years the genre has witnessed an explosion of events and cutting edge artists amassing solid followers growing by the numbers. It’s fair to say, the wealth of talent right now is exceptional and is exponentially growing by the day. From the legends to future legends here are some of its key figures.
The first major bass music artist from India with an illustrious career spanning over 15 years. He remains one of the most renowned artists in the country across all formats and although his sound is a bit more leaning now towards the EDM landscape his earlier works have been quite genre bending and laid the foundation for the bass movement in India . He is widely known as the one of the originators of ‘Desi Bass’.

With solid releases on some really reputable imprints, Bangalore based Crash Comet has garnered a solid growing fan base in the nation with his tight liquid drum n bass.
Lacuna is the alias of Mihir Raina from Chandigarh. Thumping bass heavy deep dubstep and half step to rattle those bins! Definitely one of the upcoming best talents in the country.
A renowned name from the bass circuit is Bangalore based Ketan Bahirat. A Graduate of the Red Bull Music Academy 2016, his productions range from half time bass to footwork and smooth electro all laced with top notch musicality
One of the most recognised names in the circuit is the former drummer of metal band Skyharbor
Aditya Ashok aka OX7GEN. From officially remixing U2 to slick releases on top DnB imprints he remains one of the most popular figures in the DnB movement in India.
Mumbai based Indira Kanawade is one of the top upcoming talents cutting through the circuit with her blend of organic and neurofunk influenced Drum n bass with steady standout performances across clubs and festivals.
Mumbai’s Tejas Nair is one of the finest audio visual artists in India through his multitude of cutting edge projects. Musically, he’s up there too with this forward thinking cutting edge productions that are a blend of electronica, bass and electro making him one of the sought after artists in the circuit.
10. THREE OSCILLATORS
Mumbai seems to be the hotbed of the bass movement as the duo of Brij Dalvi and Avit Rane forms Three Oscillators. Their music is all top notch sound design and musicality with impeccable quality and pristine production making one of the most exciting talents currently in India.
Hyderabad based Yung.Raj has become a much talked about name in the last couple of years This bright young talent has an eclectic sound that blends some bass heavy grooves, leaning towards at times lush and experimental.
One of the most sought after producer/dj’s in the circuit , Arman Menezies aka Zokhuma is at the forefront of the bass and leftfield music scene in India. A very versatile artist with a genre defying sound who is consistently performing at some of the best events in the nation.
TO WATCH OUT FOR
Although we think we’ve covered a good area of some of the most exciting talents from the scene currently with the above, there’s plenty more talents to watch out for who are worthy of a mention, and especially some who are already quite well known with a bit more versatile sound outside of the bass zone.
